What is a Ceramic Coating?
Ceramic coatings are the best way to keep your vehicle protected. A Ceramic coat is a thin hardened layer of silicon dioxide (Si02) that acts as a protection blanket for your clear coat or any surface it’s applied to. Arizona’s sun is brutal on paint and interior trim, without protection the UV rays will cause oxidation and fade your paint and plastics. Ceramic coatings also have self cleaning properties which will leave your vehicle looking clean even after being in the rain or driving to work all week. These same chemical properties keep debris off paint to reduce scratching and marring.
Preparation is key
Correct decontamination of your vehicle is paramount for proper installation of a ceramic coating. This process is started with a foam rinse and hand wash to remove all dirt, bugs, and tar from the vehicle. Next an iron remover will chemically decontaminate your vehicles service. Then a clay bar is used to remove embedded contaminants and anything else stuck in your paint. Your paint is now ready to be polished to remove light imperfection. A final panel prep wipe Is done to remove any polishing compound. Finally the Ceramic coating is applied leaving your vehicle protected for years.
How long does it last?
Ceramic coatings vary in lifespan from 1 year to 8 years depending on maintenance. With proper maintenance a coating may last forever. A coating with more Si02 (main chemical in Ceramic coatings) will last longer and provide more protection.
